MERRYFRESH is a concept for a monumental Christmas sculpture created for the international open call for a new Christmas tree at Holešovice Market in Prague, where it was awarded 3rd place.
Inspired by the iconic hanging car air freshener, the sculpture symbolically brings a breath of fresh air to a site that has transformed from a former industrial complex into one of Prague's most vibrant cultural and community destinations.
The proposal features an 8 to 10 metre tall sculpture suspended from an exposed mobile telescopic platform. Rather than concealing its supporting structure, the platform becomes part of the artwork, referencing logistics, movement, and the temporary nature of urban transformation.
MERRYFRESH reflects the evolving identity of Holešovice, where cranes, lifting platforms, and construction equipment have become part of the city's visual landscape. The sculpture appears as if it has just arrived or is about to leave, capturing a moment in the district's continuous transformation.
